i was directed to this page for wine and various other boozes.

i like to drink wine. it stains my teeth purple and makes me look like an alcoholic when i wake up in the morning.
tonight's choice is kind of a cheap ass red, as far as those things go at the byerlys liquor depot. it's a louis jadot beaujolais-villages 2002.

don't be fooled by the frenchy name. it's still cheap red wine.
HOWEVER. i have noticed that while this makes the top of my tongue try to stick to the roof of my mouth as reds are wont to do, it goes fairly well with the cheap cheeses, ie. hoffman's smoky swiss and cheddar.
coto di imaz rioja 1997 reserva is a slightly spendier bottle of red you can buy at the wine thingy on 41st and minnesota. i haven't figured out what goes well with that yet, but it tastes like vanilla and strawberries. more strawberry than vanilla, but they are both there.

if you're going to go all out on your cheese and get a cave aged emmenthaler, then i'd go with some of the cotes du rhone or the chateauneuf du papes that are so very very popular these days.
unfortunately, chateauneufs run from 25 and up in the cities, and i noticed that sioux falls' prices are usually two bucks over what i pay up here, so any of you poorer saps out there are kind of fucked in that department.

when the food and wine magazine suggests a pinot gris for roasted salmon with lemon shallot relish, listen to them, cuz they know what's up. i got the trimbach 2002 and it made my mouth crackle, it was so nice with the fish.

we's also building ourselfs a stock up of wines, and we has ourselves a couple of penfolds st henri estates saved up. one's a 97, and we have a couple of 98s that are very nice. i think there are a couple of the chateauneufs for saving also. and a bottle of something which looks like it's pronounced voov click kwat. don't ask me to spell it, cuz i can't. shit, i probably fucked up on some of the ones i mentioned.
i'm put in mind of the sixteen candles line "you don't spell it, son. you EAT IT"

come on shit falls. give me your best. prove to me south dakota isn't just filled with mad dog and cammos.
